i wish this post was scratch and sniff

the sights of hong kong i can help you with, but as for the smells and sounds, well, you're just going to have to take my word for it - they are incredible.

we took a self-guided walking tour in kowloon yesterday, starting at the flower market. the markets and stores seem to be grouped according to theme, and they seamlessly blend! so first, it was the flower market - row upon row of stores selling nothing but the most aromatic and visually appealing flowers. blue roses even! flowers make people happy. they just do.
i just don't know how anyone makes a living. so many people are selling the same thing for the same price! the flower market turned into the bird market. some were very cheep (hehe)...
every single orange cage held at least one bird. poor things...

from there we found ourselves at the goldfish market. this is NOT to be confused with the fresh fish market.leave your sewing kits at home ladies. one false move with a needle and these babies are history...

from there it was to the fresh fish market. i don't need to be too descriptive here - you can pretty much imagine what THAT smelt like. the offerings were right out there on tables too - if you stumbled too far to the left or right, you WOULD be the fishy dinner (errrr).

it's all right out there! you can't say it ain't fresh!

can i get fries with that?

and lastly (for now), reasons to love westernised supermarkets...
dontcha hate it when your dinner does a runner on you? god bless woolworths!!!

because i'm not at home and don't have the benefit of PSE, a computer with a mouse (#$%^&*!!!!! laptop!) and lots of spare time (plus blogger won't autosave), i'm going to sign off now.

i realise this has turned into a photo diary, pretty much for my own benefit. however, if you are enjoying my little journey through hong kong, then i'm happy for you!

more tomorrow!

Sue, sorry for delayed response.
We would love to meet Saturday, perhaps 11 a.m. (ish).

We could meet in Causeway Bay or where ever your destination for the sevens is. Either place (or any other!) is really fine.

We live on an outlying island (Lantau)so we will bring the ferry over and then mtr to destination.

We are okay with just coffee or with getting some local lunch. Coffee can be anywhere, there are coffee houses all over! Lunch could be...anywhere, too. There are some great local shops to eat at in Central and IFC mall has coffee/smoothies...Wan Chai, Causeway Bay all have places we could go.

Let me know if you prefer a location and we can figure out where to meet...oh, and if the time is okay, too.

I am loving your photo diary. Oh except, I really was imagining the smell of the fresh fish market and had to stop eating my ice cream... YUCK! Looks like fun. I really enjoy your positivity and enthusiasm!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot the chicken... I am not sure I would eat much chicken if I bought it like that...

hello!
hope you had a great day
you are welcome to call me when you get settled in for the night to confirm arrangements for tomorrow.

we can meet at 11 am at either Dynasty Scenic Restaurant for dim sum in Wan Chai or we can meet in Central for dumplings and noodles at an extremely local place on one of the alleyways.

your decision, let me know and we can confirm where to meet. call if you can or i will check comments again tonight.
