a star is born

this time last week miss 16's school rock band 'flamingo pink' had made it into the wellington regional finals of smokefree rockquest 2008.

fast forward a week to the regional finals...

it's a busy life as a rock chick. race home from a day at the bakery, grab your sticks and a home-made pie and off you go...

home-made mince and cheese pie
- the dinner of rock champions
here's flamingo pink doin' their thang. each band was alloted 7 minutes (ie, two songs)
it's a tough life as the drummer/her mother/photographer. there's usually something in front of her face, be it another body, a symbal or the neck of a guitar...
her big finish...
this is crap photo, but see the look of glee on finn's face (brown jacket and hat) as miss 16 is declared the winner of the 'female musicians award'
receiving her certificate and $150 cash cheque!!!
she now has the chance to win $1000 by writing a 300-500 word essay on her hopes and aspirations for her future music career

indulging her embarrassing mother (yet again)

i'm assuming there's one of these in every family.

you know, the one that pokes out their tongue in photos at the most inappropriate moment... her letter and certificate
it's a tough life as a rock'n'roll chick...
... play hard saturday, drool on the sofa sunday.

i've already emailed the school reminding them of the correct spelling of her name. they need this reminder, because when they printed details of last week's success, they did not, and it's one of those names that to me, when i see it misspelt - it's like it's not even my child!
yep. i'm that anal. and that proud of my girl.

With photos like that in her back catalogue, you just know she's going to make it BIG.

That's an excellent result. Misspelt names really bug me too. And I'm not even related to Miss 16. Mind you, I've been known to get cross at misplaced apostrophes...

How fun is that! Congrat's to Miss 16 and the rest of the band. Yes, I too have a tongue sticker outer, my oldest and it just makes me want to smack him. (sometimes) LOL.

Love the tongue and the drool. You are hysterical. You can tell your daughter has spunk. I love that!

Didn't she do well!! Congratulations on having such a talented daughter. I'm with you on the spelling of names. If it's a different spelling it's a different person in my book. Also if people mispronounce the name even when they've been corrected, that's like an insult to me. Ooooohh can you tell, I'm a bit touchy on that subject? Flick xx

Congrats to Miss 16. Tongue out - that's a rock n' roll think, no? So's sleeping all day. ;)
She's headed for fame, I'm sure.

She's got your smile! You're a cute pair.

How fun to have a daughter like that!

Now my middle child has a longer tongue, reminds me of Gene Simmons. Yuck!!
