photostory friday: sharing the cupcake love

i decided that last sunday would be the day i'd try red velvet cupcakes. i used this recipe from the food network. i discovered in the process, that if you don't have buttermilk (which i didn't!) that you can sour the milk by putting it in a cup with white vinegar!
how funky are these cases?
so i made red velvet cupcakes, and they turned out great! just as they came out the oven, tara's little baker (miss 10) called to see if she could come over and make cupcakes (i had offered several weeks prior). i said "SURE!"
it's all how you hold your tongue!
so after she decorated my red velvet cupcakes...
..
and the vultured swooped in....
we made more cupcakes
and MORE cupcakes!!!
i thought i owned plenty of tuppware until i went to 'house' all the cupcakes we made!

so many cupcakes, yet not ONE picture of me amongst them! if i'm not nagging my family to 'take a picture of me!' it just doesn't happen. *sigh*

how much fun did this girl have tho?

How Cute!! What lovely little cakes you both made! I have that same problem too. Trying to house the cupcakes once they are all made. Ugh, it's always so difficult isn't it?! Thanks for following my blog; You are awesome my friend! See you in the blogosphere I hope!! xo

Great series of photos. Real story there. Am sure you could do a whole cupcake albumn. I knew about souring milk for buttermilk - lots of my Irish recipes use buttermilk, especially the breads!

Sorry - got carried away looking at the cupcakes - what I meant to say is that I so totally want that red stand of yours. I have one in a pale shabby chic green which is quite servicable, but having seen the red one after I purchased the one I have - well, I just want the red one!

Yes, that's what I wanted to say.... but still.....Yuuuuuuuuummmm!!

Totally fun day!!! Loved the pictures! You've inspired me to do the same with Amelia next weekend!

I'm going to make red velvet cake one day. It's going to be an exotic, mad monster of a cake.

However, I love your cup cake skills. Very tidy too. After having four girls I expect you've learned a thing or four about getting the mixture IN the cases.

It is definitely all in how the tongue is held! My son can attest to that!

Are you just using a frosting bag to frost them? Cuz that takes some serious skilz!
