wordful wednesday: unemployed

it's been an interesting week in the scrappy household

on april 1st i left my job

on april 2nd the school holidays/easter break started

on april 3rd, misses 12, 13 and i flew to australia to spend a week with tara and her girls

because it was 4.34am and i was feeling playful or stroppy or both - i decided to answer the 'occupation or job' question thus...

interestingly, the australian arrival and departure cards ask 'what is your USUAL occupation', so i could answer EVENT MANAGEMENT, but i figured a stupidly open-ended question deserved an equally obnoxious answer.

...which begs the question, do i now revert to being a SAHM, or am i simply unemployed (and an official statistic)?

was i unemployed those 20 years i was a SAHM, and what sort of statistic was i then?

all those unpaid hours

all that undocumented work

makes ya think

Just put mother, then people know all the long hours, no pay and all the skills you have.

I say SAHM - it is the hardest job in the world.

I keep wondering how I'm going to justify my time as a SAHM when I have to re-enter the workforce. SAHM and blogger by trade? :)

That is a tough one! :)

SAHM is the hardest non-paying job ever. It really should be a counted statistic. ;)

It certainly does make you think. I always laugh in my head when people find out that I have a job (in the traditionaly sense)..."You WORK?" Um...yes? And sometimes I get a paycheck for it! :)

Only unemployed if actively looking for work. SAHM if already busy doing full time job with not training and for no pay, no status and no recognition! ;)

PS Loved the birthday cupcakes!

It never occured to me to put unemployed on an immigration form. Kind of funny actually.

When people ask me what I do I say "I work inside the home." Because I SO do... ;)
