turn turn turn

this is a sneek peek at the 50s outfit i'm wearing to a 50th birthday party next weekend. even tho we went to a 40th last weekend, 50ths is pretty much we're at. i do believe 50 is the new 40 tho. i personally can't wait...

our friend chrissy is turning 50. she and her husband throw GREAT parties. they're the guys that have TURNS. turns are fun to watch, but even more fun to DO.

here's our first one (at tara's house-warming way back in two thousand and i don't remember).

we didn't even really dress up, but it was fun
then came ABBA's 'waterloo'. 2 minutes and 17 seconds of pure unadulterated joy
it was sara's first time (that's her in blue)

she was a little nervous (read, a lot!)

it was all over very quickly, and she was very happy for having done it.
then in 1984 it was our 20th wedding anniversary
all turns had to be 80s music, so we went with toni basil's 'mickey'. those pom poms actually belong to a for real cheerleading troupe and they weighed 1 1/2 pounds EACH!!! shakin' those babies around for 4 minutes and 2 seconds was a REAL workout!
like i said, that was 2004 so it's been a long time 'between drinks' as they say. tara and i will be putting on our dancing shoes and doing a turn to a 50s song next weekend. song unknown. dance moves not yet decided, but it will happen and it will be fun.

and yes - i will be posting pics!!!

That's hilarious. It looks as though the choreography and outfits get better and better each time.

I've got a bit of time on my hands and am enjoying reading your blog.

That looks like so much fun. Explain to me exactly what is a turn?
