last night i dreamt i was...

this was the theme of the year 12 semi-formal that miss 16 went to in the weekend. i love these events. not only does my fancy flash and my D400 get a huge workout, i love the buzz of watching and listening to the girls get ready.

this year it wasn't at my place, so i was able to drive the girls into town and return to a TIDY house, rather than the remnants of a 6-hour hair-styling, make-up marathon chick-fest!

tara doin' her make-up thang. she has a real flair for it, and the girls love placing themselves in her able hands!
so much make-up, so little time...
miss 16 kept the identity of her costume a closely guarded secret until the last minute...
sully and the flapper aka BFFL
who loves those fishnets and t-bars? I DO!!!

how cute is she?
they waited hours for the girls to get ready, but still managed a smile

of course the theme wasn't particularly relevant, it was just a good ole' fancy dress.
teenagers. how they love to pose
and pose some more

still with the posing...

it was an awful night weather-wise, but being the patron-saint of parking that i am, i found one right outside the door. miss 16 thought lego-brick guy was the best costume of the night.

he made it himself! some risked pneumonia just getting there...
like this guy...
and although it looks rather dark 'down there', he was wearing undies!!! that's a professional paint job too - pretty cool huh? he was freezing and glaring at his mum to finish taking pictures already. miss 16 ended up with pink arms after dancing with him! (they're mates).
the queen of funny faces - my child...

Aren't girls FUN!?!? I got to go shopping with my sister and nieces (for THEIR formal evening attire)It was a record event...with us clocking in at only 1 hour and 22 minutes to purchase BOTH girls a dress (size 0& size 1. Are those REALLY sizes? Does a 0 count? I've always wondered)

Having raised two boys, I never got to indulge in the "all night makeup high jump" or the "not with THAT dress you don't" hurdles!

Your fam is full of glam...

See, I came to see you despite 125 other posts to read!

Love teenagers posing; there's lots of that in our school's yearbook.

Ooo and thanks for the link to Free Rice; I'd heard about it, but didn't know what it was called. Have now stuck it in my favourites and will get pupils to play during final lessons of term.

Fun stuff- love all the costumes. I know it is strange but I have never enjoyed dressing up in costume- even as a kid Halloween was not my favorite. But as an adult I love all the kids coming dressed up to trick or treat.

I agree with Gigi, you always have something way fun going on!

Ha! How cute are they?!?!?! Lego guy was certainly original. I love fancy dress parties but the creativity that precedes them gives me a headache.
