when my grandparents were alive, they would send the girls $50 on their birthday and at Christmas.
This money went straight into a 'junior super saver'-type bank account and was generally forgotten (we're talking late 90s here).
so when the bank called a couple of weeks back and said 'these accounts have been inactive for millenia but they still have money in them, and waddyawannadowithit?'- i was quite surprised!
i said 'how much money are we talking about?' the younger girls had around $250 and $300 respectively, but the account belonging to miss 17 (who's been saving up for a new drum kit) had TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS in it!
boy was she happy when she found out, and it was instantly spent on a new kit (that's another blog post!) miss 11 and miss 12 on the other hand, got to fondle their cash for a little while before it was whipped away and deposited into another account...
(this is what happens when you live in a practically cash-less society - you become completely GA-GA at the sight of anything bigger than a tenner!!!

Wow!! That's awesome! How exciting! Nothing better than money that you didn't realize you have!!
Too cool! I can't wait to hear about the new kit! Brian and I are trying an all cash system this month....should be interesting. LOL Glad the girls had fun at least looking at their money for a minute. :D
That is so stinkin' cool! Talk about a very welcome surprise. :)
ehh - I LOVE found money!! Like a $5 in the dryer but $1200 is like winning the lottery!
Awesome! What a great surprise!
How exciting for Miss 17....talk about dreams coming true!
Everyone needs a pic of themselves fannign money, lol.
Your money is so pretty (compared to the blandish US dollar)
now those are the surprises we all like, very cool. Even better is that Miss 17 was able to get her drum kit.
wow what a phonecall.... yah for your girls.... love the bit about the 'real money'' so so true
You gotta love those cash filled surprises!!!!
Those are the best surprises!
I see a new drum set in your future.
My Wordful is all about "Sister's Day". Come join me if you can. Happy Wednesday.
It is like when you put on a pair of jeans or that winter coat that you have not worn in months and you find a $20 bill in the pocket. Awesome!
I think it's good for them to USE cash too, every now and again. I remember when I was 18, buying my first t.v., it sure was hard to part with $300.00 CASH, a lot harder than if I'd just forked over the Credit card.
Cute picture! : )
Look at all of that colorful money! Ka-ching! :)
Such pretty girls! I bet they were thrilled with their windfall!
Forgotten money is all the more sweet !
Very cool!!!
Found money rocks.

Wow, that is awesome!!! How exciting. Cole will be thrilled someday when he can cash his savings bonds.
That's so funny--it's like a G-rated rap video!
Your money is so pretty!!! We have boring, and nearly worthless, money!!
Your girls are as cute as a button too!!!!!
