wordful wednesday - show me the money

when my grandparents were alive, they would send the girls $50 on their birthday and at Christmas.

This money went straight into a 'junior super saver'-type bank account and was generally forgotten (we're talking late 90s here).

so when the bank called a couple of weeks back and said 'these accounts have been inactive for millenia but they still have money in them, and waddyawannadowithit?'- i was quite surprised!

i said 'how much money are we talking about?' the younger girls had around $250 and $300 respectively, but the account belonging to miss 17 (who's been saving up for a new drum kit) had TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS in it!

boy was she happy when she found out, and it was instantly spent on a new kit (that's another blog post!) miss 11 and miss 12 on the other hand, got to fondle their cash for a little while before it was whipped away and deposited into another account...
(this is what happens when you live in a practically cash-less society - you become completely GA-GA at the sight of anything bigger than a tenner!!!

It is like when you put on a pair of jeans or that winter coat that you have not worn in months and you find a $20 bill in the pocket. Awesome!

I think it's good for them to USE cash too, every now and again. I remember when I was 18, buying my first t.v., it sure was hard to part with $300.00 CASH, a lot harder than if I'd just forked over the Credit card.

Cute picture! : )

You always have the coolest stories to tell! That is really something finding money like that. Ha! Wish I'd find some money somewhere too! I like your money too, by the way. Lots of colorful pictures and not as boring as boring as ours. And those girls as always are adorable!
