Day 28 GIVING THANKS: Show and Tell

unless you've been living under a rock, you will know that the WORLD PREMIERE of Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" happened today - right here in the "coolest little capital in the world" Wellington.

(that's according to Lonely Planet - not just me!)

like the "Lord of the Rings' before it in 2003 - stars from the movie walked the red carpet on the streets of Wellington.  the city (maybe even the country?!) ground to a halt.

one of the joys of living in a country so small, is that when something BIG happens, it's the ONLY thing that's happening.

look: we even did THIS to one of our 777s JUST to mark the occasion

i also VOLUNTEERED today at the red carpet event.

before i even reported to the volunteer briefing, i saw Miss Cate Blanchett walking with purpose!
(apparently she was running late!)

the Embassy Theatre gets a makeover

because volunteering is more fun in groups, i brought my 16 year old along too
this is her handing out Gandalf hats - on the red carpet!

and me - tossing Gandalf hats into the crowd

Sir Peter Jackson - first to arrive on the red carpet

no idea who she is - but LOVE her dress!

zumba pal and fellow volunteer Georgia - who snuck us onto said red carpet to hand out the much wanted Gandalf hats!

volunteer Sue signing off for the night

good deed #2 for the day: make sure my fam had dinner to eat while i was out, AND make enough to share with zumba instructor caro
