Week in the Life: Saturday's Words and Photos

"What do you see every day that you often walk right past?"

this really resonated with me today
i note that i've taken photos in the evening of us watching 'friends' 4 times this week.

this morning i look at the tv and say to hubby "when did we switch the tvs over?"

the tv that's currently in here used to be in the lounge and we used to have a slightly smaller tv with a wooden unit under it [here] in the family room.

i figure i'll look at last year's Week in the Life project. nope. no photos.
the year before? nope.

of course i remember the night he switched the tvs over
i was having 'wine on the deck' with friends and i was wondering why hubby hadn't called to see where i was (it was getting late)
he'd ordered the new apple tv and was expecting delivery of it
when i DID get home, i saw the empty packaging in the garage
i knew immediately that he was in his happy place setting it up and had NO idea of what time it was!

it was October 30, which also happened to be the day my youngest finished her last ever day of school.

hubby's meds. 6 warfarin, 1 amlodipine
since WitL 2015 he's dropped one BP med
he's tracking well

8:08 | the rain's stopped, but it's still pretty breezy

8:33 | another saturday, another delicious breakfast cooked by hubby

8:46 | it's still friday in the states, so katelin's work week is not yet done

9:03 | let me iiiiiiiiiiin

9:04 | this is what you get for not letting me in straight away

9:06 | it's possible we've let some bad habits take hold.....

10:23 | me: "Hey, can you take a picture of me cleaning up this plaster dust?"
me: "i don't know why i'm even doing this - they're coming back again next week to paint the ceiling!"

10:37 | no-one can remember what was so funny
...and here's tomas! he was a very engaging young man with a plan to retire at 35
i found it so refreshing to talk to a "Gen Y-er" with such a firm life goal and a vision of how to make it happen

11:14 | my IG caption: "some assembly required, and he couldn't be happier"

his IG caption: I was sold at "some assembly required". That the endeavour ends up with chilled carbonated homebrewed beer dispensed from a temperature controlled fridge is pretty much the best day of my life. ‪#‎engineersex‬

11:54 | making time for my girl
we're heading across town to see "zootopia"
"the boss" (we're huge melissa mcarthy fans here) is suddenly not screening anymore

i chose this cinema because i have some movie vouchers that i won waaaaaaaay back
when i get inside, they tell me i can't use them because they're from the previous owners

ah well. i tried...

it's taken so long to get across town that i'm worried we'll miss the start while we're waiting for our food
we get our food, get into the theatre and the movie STILL hasn't started
next thing a staff member comes in and tells that us every movie requires a LOCK KEY, and there isn't one for this movie

the staff: what else can i show you
me: THE BOSS!
the staff: my boss isn't here
me: no, the MOVIE the boss!
tash: mum. there are KIDS here!

a few minutes later he comes back with 2 choices:
"the jungle book" or "hunt for the wilder people"
considering Tash and I are in the minority, we go with the consensus which is "the jungle book"
there's a mother with a very small boy sitting next to me, so i say "i hear there's a scary part in it". the wee boy instantly reacts and the mother says "don't worry, it's not scary".

LIAR!!! it was scary, and he was scared. not my problem

because we've been "inconvenienced", we can come back early tomorrow morning for a viewing of "zootopia" - FLAG!!!!

...or have these complimentary vouchers

well, will you look at that - i got my free movie after all!!!

3:02 |  off to work
being short-staffed and a mix up with the roster means that she can't play netball today
she's frustrated because her team ends up losing by 1 goal
i'm sad because there won't be any photos of her playing netball in this album

3:12 | shopping with other people's money - the very best kind!
katelin's excited to play a full game in this new gear tomorrow
i'm excited that clive will be there to take photos!

3:18 | installation complete

so excited to see these two next weekend

5:32 | a snap from Tash
did i mention how proud i am of this girl?

6:23 | i spot this out the window

7:27 | dinner at a local restaurant with friends
christine and i met 20 years ago when she arrived back from germany with her son thomas
(different thomas!)
it's a friendship that started together 'at the school gate' but has continued well beyond it

christine and klaus haven't seen clive since before clive's surgery (2 years ago!)
even though christine and i caught up 2 weeks ago (we work across the street from each other now), there's a million and one topics to burn through: what our collective 8 kids are all up to, mutual friends, jobs etc etc

the boys

9:56 | after dinner we head back to theirs to watch the rugby
our team won 29-14

abby's a dog that punches above her weight
that toy is bigger than she is!

a 'signature' photo from these two. i have MANY with the same faces from over the years
they're at tequila joe's for a flat reunion

Love your photos! I'm being a bit cheeky and stalking everyone's week in the life photos and doing my week starting tomorrow! Would love to know if you bought the Goalkeepers Bag somewhere recently? My son is a goalie and he would love a bag like that! my sister in law lives in Island Bay in Wellington so I can send her on a shopping trip if you bought it locally. Shannon Russell, Qld, Australia
