wordful wednesday and the chainsaw manicure

did you see what i did there?

when you read the word 'chainsaw',  you probably thought 'chainsaw MASSACRE' - as in texas,  but i actually wrote MANICURE.

a little word play....(dorky word play, but it's my blog so i can be as dorky as i like!)

it also kinda looks like a T-REX ran through our property, but these before and after pics are pretty cool

mr scrappy wouldn't let me loose with the chainsaw, which on reflection (after seeing him carefully avoid having branches fall on him) - was probably a good idea

photostory friday: this blog post has 3 titles

"IT STARTED INNOCENTLY ENOUGH" (blog title #1)

or

"APPARENTLY YOU CAN HAVE TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING
(blog title #2)

or

"THE POD PEOPLE ARE HAPPY" (blog title #3)

this photo works for blog title #1

so the iphone 4 came out here today.
after a royal F$%^^&&*UP between vodafone the contract distributor, the iphone 4 finally arrived at lunchtime.

mr scrappy was #9 in line.  (i guess when you're in line you have time to count).

[this is is happy face].  when being photographed, he's mostly concerned with not looking like a crazed drug addict; so this is a good day for him.

there's a very long money chain in play here, so try to keep up :)

mr scrappy HAD a iphone 3GS
miss 18 had an iphone 3G
her bestie had a [recently purchased] ipod 'touch'
miss 12 WANTS an ipod touch

now that mr scrappy has his precious iphone 4, he will sell his 3GS to miss 18
SHE will in turn sell her 3G to her bestie

and

miss 12 will become the proud owner of a nearly new ipod touch

in the meantime...

you have to WAIT for it to sync!!!

insert blog title #3 here

...and insert blog title #2 here

wordful wednesday: a boy and his new toy

mr scrappy has been following the launch of the ipad closely.

they've only been out in australia for a month or two, and they won't even BE AVAILABLE here in new zealand until sometime this month.

he was kinda hoping that he might get one during our week in australia, but as seems to be the case EVERYWHERE, they're selling faster than they can be made!

so it was a very happy happenstance, when on our first day in australia we drove to the local mall, and whilst he was looking longingly at the display models, the sales dude mentioned that a woman had ordered one such elusive ipad and failed to show up to collect it!

"do you want it?" the dude asked.

stupid question.

it's so preeeeeeeeetty.......

now about this iphone/ipad scrabble...

i don't know what sort of voodoo magic makes those tile letters flick from the iphone to the scrabble board, but HOLY SHIT IT'S FUN!!!

never won a game, but then again i'm a purist.
i go for board coverage and long words that total 7 points

it's true - nice guys DO finish last.

wordful wednesday - i call it the iPhone coma

you have no idea how tempted i was to rip it out of his hands and throw it into the harbour!!!

BACKSTORY: i've been looking at the top of the hubs' head ever since he lined up with all the other 'sad' people for the launch of the latest version. that was 8 days (before this photo was taken) and it hasn't been out of his hands since!

our weekend: a visit to the waterfront and a mini-break

the sun came out yesterday. most of wellington was so stunned so see this bright yellow ball in the sky, they immediately took to the watefront to walk, skate, cycle, and generally leap about with glee.

we joined them.

te papa (our national museum) had a couple of things going on. this display of fancy cars was one of them. i personally don't see what the fuss is...
inside the museum, this was going on
this little guy (who can't be more than 11) completed a 3x3 rubic cube in under 3 minutes - BLINDFOLDED!!!
the audience was in awe. as they should be!
then we stopped at chaffers dock for a bite to eat.
here's the grandma to my cupcake holder!!!
raspberry cupcake - yummmmmmmm
the view from our table to outside. all the outside tables were taken - dammit!
there was no wind. just gorgeous
chaffers dock
after our trip downtown with the girls, the hubs and i took a mini break!
it was our first in over 18 months - that's too long!

we stayed here - pretty cool huh? almost brand new
this is the spa we didn't relax in (no togs) and the pool we didn't swim in (too frikkin' freezing!)
we did however, relax upstairs in our 2-bedroom apartment and enjoy the last of the afternoon sunafter a curry at the local 'indian', we headed back and watched the all blacks beat the aussies at rugby. it wasn't pretty, but we won!
this morning we had breakfast here
then took a walk along the beach
yes, this is a teenage boy surfing in the ocean - IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER!!!
how cute are we?
